PENGARUH MOTIVASI DAN KEBIJAKAN TERHADAP KENAIKAN JABATAN AKADEMIK DOSEN UDB SURAKARTA

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of motivation and government and institutional policies on lecturers' academic rank promotion at Universitas Duta Bangsa Surakarta, both partially and simultaneously. The study employed a quantitative, associative approach with a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to permanent lecturers holding an academic rank who had compiled Lecturer Performance Reports for four consecutive semesters. The minimum required sample size was calculated using the Slovin formula, and questionnaires were distributed to the entire eligible population, yielding 88 valid respondents from 121 permanent lecturers after data cleaning. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 27, including validity, reliability, classical assumptions, coefficient of determination, F-test, and t-test analyses. The results show that motivation has no significant effect on lecturers' academic rank promotion, while government and institutional policies have a significant effect and represent the more dominant variable. Both variables simultaneously have a significant effect, with an adjusted coefficient of determination of 33.7%, while the remaining 66.3% is explained by other variables outside the model. These findings underline the importance of strengthening institutional policy support, particularly document preparation and verification assistance, as key to lecturers' readiness for academic rank promotion.
