Abstract

This study examines the influence of leadership style and work ethic on the performance of civil servants (ASN), and tests the mediating role of job satisfaction at the Regional Secretariat of Southwest Papua Province. A quantitative survey was conducted with 60 ASN employees. Data were analyzed using path analysis and the Sobel test. The results show that both leadership style and work ethic have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Work ethic also significantly affects ASN performance, while the direct effect of leadership style on performance is not significant. However, leadership style has a significant indirect effect through job satisfaction. Job satisfaction mediates the influence of both leadership style and work ethic on ASN performance. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening leadership and work ethic to improve ASN performance through job satisfaction, especially in newly established local government institutions.
