Abstract

This research aims to analyze the professionalism of administrative staff in the implementation of office administration at SMP Negeri 13 Kota Gorontalo and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, administrative staff, teachers, and students as informants. The results indicate that the professionalism of administrative staff in implementing office administration has not been fully optimal. This condition is influenced by the educational background of some staff members that is not aligned with office administration as well as the absence of training or technical guidance to enhance their competencies. Nevertheless, office administration activities such as correspondence management, archiving, inventory management, information dissemination, and meeting documentation have been carried out adequately. Supporting factors include the availability of facilities and infrastructure, good work motivation, cooperation among staff, and support from the school principal. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors consist of mismatched educational backgrounds, lack of training, unstable internet networks, and damaged office equipment. Therefore, efforts to improve the professionalism of administrative staff through training programs and adequate facilities are essential to enhance the quality of school administrative services.
