Abstract

This research aims to examine the impact of workload on cyberloafing behavior through the mediation of work stress among Generation Z employees in Garut City. The high internet usage in the workplace and the characteristics of Generation Z who are closely associated with digital technology have the potential to trigger the probability of cyberloafing, especially when workload is not managed optimally. This study utilizes a descriptive quantitative method analyzed through structural equation modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). This research comprised 125 Generation Z employees from the service and trade sectors as respondents. They were selected through a non-probability sampling approach with a purposive sampling method. Data were obtained through the distribution of Likert-scale questionnaires online using Google Forms as the collection platform. Data processing was implemented with the help of SmartPLS edition 4. The study findings indicate that workload exerts a positive effect on work stress and cyberloafing, while work stress also influences cyberloafing behavior and serves as a mediator in the workload-cyberloafing relationship. The study's conclusion emphasizes the critical role of managing workload and mitigating work stress to suppress cyberloafing behavior.
