Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of community mining policies in Poboya, Palu City, Central Sulawesi, by examining regulatory effectiveness, environmental and socioeconomic impacts, and the roles of stakeholders. Using qualitative methods and a case study approach, this study found that many problems persist in policy implementation, such as weak oversight, low awareness of environmentally friendly behavior, and suboptimal community involvement. Furthermore, illegal mining and the widespread use of mercury have significant impacts on ecology and public health. This study recommends strengthening community mining policies in Poboya through institutional capacity building, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and the implementation of a community-based environmental management system.
